What to Expect

Before your procedure

Arrive 30–45 minutes before your appointment time. You'll complete a brief pre-procedure assessment and meet your team.

Fasting instructions

Gastroscopy: typically nothing to eat for 6 hours and clear fluids only up to 2 hours before. Specific timing is confirmed at booking.

Bowel preparation overview

Colonoscopy requires a laxative bowel prep starting the day before. We provide step-by-step instructions and timings.

Medication guidance

Discuss blood thinners, diabetes medication, and chronic medication with us in advance — some may need to be paused or adjusted.

What to bring

ID document, medical aid card, referral letter, medication list, and authorisation reference if available.

Transport after sedation

Sedation impairs reflexes for the rest of the day. Arrange a responsible adult to collect you and stay overnight if possible.

Patient safety

Clear Discharge Criteria

Patients are discharged only when clinically appropriate and with clear post-procedure instructions.

Escalation Pathway

If hospital-level care is required, patients can be referred or escalated appropriately.

Specialist Oversight

Procedures and decision-making are specialist-led.
